The spartherm is a type of meditation that I like to do. It is basically a way of getting into your body and letting go of all your resistance or worries. I do it all the time with my clients. They are usually people from a place of suffering or frustration. They need to be able to relax into their bodies and allow whatever is going on inside of them to naturally flow out and out.

Yes it is. This is how you can be able to let go of any resistance or worry about pain or danger, so that you can more freely and comfortably move through your everyday life. When I do it with a client, I tell them to stand on the floor with their palms facing forward, arms straight and relaxed, and their eyes open.

I think this is a great idea. The most common mistake I see people make is wanting to look at their hands. That can be great for a meditation, but the problem is that in meditation you are just meditating. You’re not aware of this “awareness,” it is just sitting there.

People who hold their hands out in this way are taking a very relaxed, easy breathing meditation. People who don’t do it are taking a much more difficult, deliberate breathing meditation. In the end youre just breathing, and youre not aware of it. This is the reason I like taking clients to the beach, to get their attention. You can have very deep meditation, but if you’re not aware of it, it will just feel like youre meditating.

Well it kind of does, but that’s not really what its meant to do. If you are doing this meditation, you are actually breathing in and out, and youre aware of it. Its just a different kind of awareness that you have to maintain for a longer period of time.

Thats a great point. I would say this is true for any conscious activity. Meditation is one of the most important ways that we can actually stay in the present. To me its like I am meditating or breathing, and I dont even realize it.

Well, we are. And we may not realize it, but we are. Its easy to forget when we are meditating, or even just sitting in a meditation class. We all have moments where we are aware we are having an experience, but we don’t notice it until it’s too late.
